Value Delivered
Al maintains the strong safety culture that benefits Illingworth’s employees and clients alike. To support the company’s zero accident commitment, he ensures that every employee has the training and equipment required to make each project as safe and healthy as possible. In addition to providing OSHA 10-hour and other safety training, he supervises pre-task planning, including safe work planner and job instructor assignments. He also conducts regular jobsite safety inspections and coordinates investigation of injuries and near misses. His other responsibilities include chairing the firm’s nine-member safety committee, overseeing the companywide drug program, and producing various safety-related communications.
Expertise
Al started in the industry in 1961 as a steamfitter and joined Illingworth in 1969. Since then, he has held a number of increasingly responsible positions, including service technician, service manager and service superintendent. He has also managed security and fire protection, as well as the company’s fleet of more than 75 vehicles. In the early 1980s, his knowledge of industry technologies, workplace hazards and accident-prevention strategies led to his current position.
The Personal Side
Al and his wife, Rose Marie, have been married for more than 50 years. They have three grown children and eight grandchildren with whom they try to spend as much time as possible. Al also enjoys hunting, traveling and dog training. An avid basketball fan, he was a Marquette season ticketholder for a quarter of a century.
